Service Description

The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) is the joint of the jaw. When this is out of balance it can cause a wide range of symptoms- some of the most common ones being: Jaw pain and discomfort, clenching/grinding of the teeth, clicking/popping sensations when opening and closing the jaw, headaches, ringing of the ears (tinnitus) and earaches, neck, shoulder and back pain, dizziness and pain behind the eyes. This treatment focusses a whole body approach using gentle Thai Massage, stretching, acupressure points and an intra-oral TMJ release. Feet, hips, back, arms, hands, neck, head and face/jaw are worked on - these are areas known to help relax the jaw. They will be gently stretched and massaged to help release areas of tight fascia. Non-latex gloves will be used for an intra-oral jaw release. Oil will be used on the neck only. Fascia- the interconnective 'web' of the body can get tight and 'knotted' which can cause areas of tightness and restriction in other areas of the body. By gently and slowly releasing the fascia through massage and stretching these are released on areas specifically known to release the jaw. The muscles of the jaw itself (Masseter, Medial and Lateral Pterygoids, Temporalis) are worked on both externally and intra-orally. This treatment is not targeted at specific muscles- rather the release of connective fascia that surrounds those muscles. The pressure used is a relaxing medium pressure in order to help facilitate the release.

To cancel or reschedule please make contact at least 48 hours in advance of your appointment. -Cancellations made 24 hours or less of the appointment time will be charged 50% of the total service rate. The remaining 50% will be issued to you in the form of credit to be used against your next treatment. -No-show clients will be subject to 100% or the service rate. -Late shows - If you turn up late to your appointment then I will do my best to ensure you get your full time, however, if I have other bookings then apologies but I will only be able to see you until your booked time slot ends.
